Many of us have a tendency to abdicate responsibility for "creativity".
And I'm worried that Claude and the like are (amongst other much more troubling things) are fast becoming the next outlet for our abdication of creative responsibility.
Maybe we were told that we couldn't draw at school, albeit drawing isn't creativity, and therefore we think we're not creative (or our job title somehow precludes it).
Maybe, like everybody else, we've been seduced by the Creative Genius / Eureka Moment myths that make for such great cultural stories.
Maybe we're just avoidant because creativity is hard and messy and ambiguous and annoying and difficult to put on our timesheets.
And maybe whacking a carefully worded prompt into Claude (with system instructions and context engineering and all) just feels much simpler (because it is).
And yes, creativity is not innovation.
[Stolen from google: Creativity is the act of generating original ideas, while Innovation is the practical implementation of those ideas to create measurable value].
