Dear IKEA, Thank you for being the masters of human-centred design – your attention to detail and ability to solve problems is both deeply Reassuring and indicative of your design Expertise.
Specifically, thank you for designing the “drainage gate” into your VARDAGEN mug.
Pah! First World Problems, some may scoff.
And sure, little pools of murky dishwasher water in the punt of mugs at the end of a cycle pails into insignificance when thinking about the bigger picture.
Yes and, the fact that you’ve bothered to address this negligible – albeit daily – inconvenience tells me so much about you as a brand.
It tells me that you care about the details, that you sweat the small stuff.
It tells me that you’re consistently and constantly thinking about your customers and how to solve their problems, no matter how small.
And if you’re solving micro-problems, it tells me that you’re probably pretty good at solving for the big stuff too.
And it gives me a reason to visit you, either in-store or online. And whilst I’m there with you, who knows what else will end up in my basket or on my trolley? Gotta hit that Free-Delivery heuristic, right?
Micro-detail. Macro impact. Thanks again IKEA. Ned
